Okay, before we start the demo, I'll just go through some of the key concepts of Spectrum Protect. One of the key differentiators between Spectrum Protect and most other backup products is that Spectrum uses a methodology called progressive incremental backups. What this means is that every time a backup is run, Spectrum Protects client scans for files changed on the host since the last backup and only backs up the files that have changed. This is different from traditional differential and full and incremental backups. What this means in practice is that the first backup will be a full backup because it has no record of any previous backups, but subsequent backups will only backup the changed files. Another important concept is active and inactive versions. The active version of the file is the most recent backup version for the file held within the Spectrum Protect. The inactive version is any other version. When a file is changed on the client, the next time a backup is run, the changed file is backed up and becomes the active version. The previous active version then becomes inactive. When the number of inactive versions specified by the policy is reached, the oldest inactive version is deleted in a special process. The final concept I'd like to discuss is the way that Spectrum Protect uses policies to determine the number of versions of files retained within it. There are two key parameters: the versions exist, which is the number of versions retained within Spectrum per set while the file exists on the client; and the versions deleted, which is the number...
